About Pat

Patrick Bell

Pat Bell dedicated his entire adult life to providing opportunities for all young people through sports in our West Linn community .

Patrick Bell was born on February 19, 1966, in Portland, Oregon.  Surrounded by his family and closest friends, he gained his angel wings on May 13, 2022, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Pat’s life was cut short, but those who knew him understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Anyone who knew Pat was touched by his kindness, humor, and mild temperament. He was truly a peacemaker and was always a source of positivity.

Pat always went the extra mile to ensure that young student athlete's were taken care of and through Pat's coaching, his players were not only taught  the fundamentals of sports, but what it took to be a successful person as well.

Pat grew up in West Linn in a large, loving and active family. He attended Cedar Oak Elementary School and was a staple in the West Linn community.  Pat and his wife Molly raised their family in West Linn which included daughters Lucy, Katie and their son Joey.  All 3 children participated in West Linn youth sports and high school sports as well.   Pat was a wonderful husband and a very proud and devoted father.

Pat started coaching at age 20 and impacted the lives of thousands of people through coaching football, basketball, soccer, softball and baseball.  Pat coached an estimated 8000 kids over his 38 years of coaching multiple sports and left an incredibly positive impact on those he coached.

Pat lived life as if he was on a mission to serve others.  His impact will last forever on the kids he coached and to continue his legacy in helping young student athletes, we have created the Pat Bell Memorial Scholarship in order to continue to serve that mission of his.
